I have known Daniel for some years now, both as a colleague and one who engaged in an 'apprenticeship in the artistry of narrative therapy.'  His inspirational leadership in Headspace(West Sydney from x to x) and Canteen(NZ/Australia from x to x) leave no doubt as to his management style.

However, I know him far better as a narrative therapist specialising in working with young people and their families. In my opinion, he is one of the most innovative practitioners of his generation as well as one of the most accomplished  I know internationally. I look forward to any training programme he might initiate and will do my utmost to assist him in any way possible.

Daniel, You are a one-of-a-kind person. There have been many moments shared together that result in deep, satisfying and sustenance-giving reflection. You have always been so encouraging of each and every worker and spoke highly of everyone's skills - even if we didn't believe it ourselves - this was such a warm and positive culture . Thank you for probing us to witness our own practice in such a supportive way. If only we could have recordings of your comforting voice - always a great soothing balm that will no doubt help other professionals along in some other magical dimension.

Sarah, Counsellor

KARI is accredited to deliver community services to vulnerable Aboriginal children and communities. Our case management teams actively support children in the care and protection of the Minister Family and Community Services. KARI contracted Daniel Angus to provide group supervision for our client-facing staff. Daniel provided service to our teams from 25/10/19 to the 18/6/21. Daniel’s initial scope was to increase reflective practice, improve morale and support self-care within our programs. Daniel’s program was an immense success. He built strong rapport with our teams and was able to generate robust critical thinking and productive debate. Daniel was able to summarise and collate key themes that he presented to the KARI senior executive. As a result of Daniel’s work KARI have considerably improved business and our staff report increased job satisfaction and improved morale. Daniel was respectful, efficient, and meticulously organised. He maintained confidentiality and implemented the supervision project as intended. KARI would recommend Daniel to provide supervision for other services or businesses. He has a unique ability to engage with staff and develop solutions to operational issues.

Daniel has a special way of keeping therapy fresh and engaging, while still striking at the heart of the matter with warmth, curiosity, and keen observational skills. Working with Daniel for five years, I can confidently state he is tapping a deep well-spring of compassionate creativity toward all clients and their difficulties. No matter how unusual, extreme or debilitating, Daniel consistently responds to client predicaments with therapeutic questions that move them forward, that open their world’s up to new ways of seeing problems and their potential solutions. In countless discussions I’ve never seen Daniel flummoxed or stumped, in how to approach client difficulties. Daniel’s therapy practice is a leading light in hopefulness.

Daniel has a true gift for transformative leadership; not just able to motivate others, but to deeply inspire others to reach beyond their potential. I have worked under Daniel for 3 years, however working with Daniel would be more apt. As a manager, he was always open, honest, and authentic in his interactions with others, and valued the opinions of everyone equally. As a leader, he was humble, innovative and inspirational, genuinely connecting with his team and the people around him, and helping them to be the best they can be. Daniel is an exceptional therapist, skilled in multiple modalities. With many years of experience, he has developed his own unique style, working alongside clients in their journeys of wellness and self discovery.

Daniel comes from a deeply humanistic, intelligent and hopeful place. He is observant and analytical, rarely accepting things at face value and always going the extra mile. I have watched him fearlessly interrogate and pursue what is best and to determine what is right; whether this is best practice in a service setting, using the right measures for the right outcomes or advocating for and embedding infrastructure to support families and peer workers alongside clinicians in teams. His values are clearly reflected in the way he gently and respectfully engages with, and challenges, people across diverse backgrounds and situations. He is one of the most interesting, effective and compassionate people I have worked with in healthcare.
